Is it affordable? Is it worth investing in?

What is Waterproofing?

Waterproofing is a method used by contractors across the world to keep water (typically rainfall) from reaching the interior of a building. During the construction of a new building, office, or storefront waterproofing is typically involved from the get-go for quality assurance. Occasionally, problems may arise after the building is complete needing additional waterproofing measures. By waterproofing a building you are reducing the interior humidity, which will not only protect your furniture but will make your environment more comfortable.

In the event that the structure is compromised, water finds its way in you will have to deal with mold which will constantly bring unattractive aromas and can eat away at your infrastructure. If the infrastructure is made of wood this can become a serious issue.  Concrete is slightly more resistant to water although it’s not impervious. During the winter this problem is exponentially increased because water can freeze and create cracks in your support structure.

The main objective of waterproofing isn’t to keep water out 100% that is nearly impossible. The objective is to keep as much water out as possible and then create safe routes for drainage so that water doesn’t settle in one location.  On the inside membranes will be used inside the walls as a barrier to shy water away.  These processes are sometimes referred to as “the envelope”. Most building codes will have adequate guidelines for waterproofing and Expedite Construction will do everything in its power to make sure you don’t just meet those codes but you rise above them.

How does it work?

There are many different forms of waterproofing that we use ranging from sheet membrane application, liquid waterproofing, bentonite waterproofing, metal oxide waterproofing, or cement waterproofing.
